Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Kutubji app (“Kutubji”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
In short: Kutubji stores your reading progress, favourites and anything you write in your own account so it stays with you across devices. Anything you write in My Own Books is private to your account — we do not publish it and other users cannot see it. We do not sell your data. The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, and you are asked for permission before any tracking happens. You can delete your account and all of your data at any time.
1. Information we collect
Account information
You can sign in with Apple or Google. When you do, we receive a unique account identifier and, depending on the provider and your own choices, your email address and display name. If you use Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email, in which case we only ever receive an Apple private-relay address.
Your library activity
So that your library follows you between devices, we store:
- Reading progress — which book you are in and the page you reached
- Favourite books and saved quotes
- Categories you follow, used to personalise your home page
- Book requests and feedback you choose to send us
Content you write
Books, chapters and drafts you create in My Own Books are stored in your account so you do not lose them. See section 3 for exactly who can see them.
Preferences & settings
Your reading settings — typeface, text size, alignment, reading mode, page turn style and the app colour you picked — are stored so the app behaves the same everywhere you use it.
Subscription information
If you purchase the ad-free subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple and the subscription status is managed through RevenueCat. We receive whether your subscription is active and which plan you hold. We never receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple.
Diagnostic & usage data
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example which sections are opened most, or where people stop. This is measurement of app behaviour, not of you personally, and we do not use it to build an advertising profile.
2. How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- Keep your library, progress and writing in sync across your devices
- Personalise which shelves and categories you see
- Deliver the books, quotes and app content you request
- Provide and validate the ad-free subscription
- Send you the notifications you have allowed
- Diagnose problems and improve the app
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed in section 4, who process it on our behalf.
3. Your own writing
This matters enough to state plainly. Anything you write in My Own Books — titles, chapters, drafts, notes — is private to your account. It is not published, it is not shown to other users, and it is not browsable anywhere in the app by anyone but you.
It is stored on our servers rather than only on your device so that it survives losing or changing your phone. We do not read it, and we do not use it to train anything. It is yours; you can delete any of it at any time, and deleting your account removes all of it.
4. Third-party services
Kutubji relies on a small number of established providers. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Signs you in | Account identifier, email, display name |
| Cloud Firestore | Stores your library, progress and writing | The data described in section 1 |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Delivers push notifications | A device notification token |
| Firebase Analytics | Aggregate usage measurement | App events, device and country |
| Firebase Remote Config | Lets us change app settings without an update | App version and basic device info |
| Google AdMob | Shows ads in the free version | Advertising identifier, only with your permission |
| RevenueCat | Manages the subscription | Anonymous purchase identifier, subscription status |
| Sign in with Apple / Google | Authentication providers | Handled by Apple and Google under their own policies |

5. Advertising & tracking permission
The free version of Kutubji shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. Ads pay for keeping the library free.
Before any tracking takes place, iOS shows you Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, the app does not use your advertising identifier and you will see non-personalised ads instead. Nothing else about the app changes.
Where required by law, we also show Google’s consent form so you can choose how ad partners use your data. You can change that choice later, and you can turn ads off completely by subscribing.
6. Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a device token so we can tell you about new books and features. You can turn notifications off at any time in the iOS Settings app, and the token stops being used.
7. Photo library access
Kutubji asks for photo library access only when you choose to use one of your own images as a quote background. The image is used on your device to compose the quote card. We do not upload your photo library, and we do not browse it.
8. Storage, security & retention
Your data is stored in Google Cloud infrastructure operated by Firebase, protected in transit and at rest by Google’s encryption. Access is restricted by security rules so that one account cannot read another account’s private data.
Some data is also cached on your own device so the app works offline. That copy is removed when you sign out or delete the app.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data — progress, favourites, saved quotes, settings and everything in My Own Books — is deleted.
No system is perfectly secure. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights & choices
- Access — everything we hold about you is visible in the app
- Correction — you can edit your settings and your writing at any time
- Deletion — you can delete individual items, or your whole account
- Tracking — decline the ATT prompt, or change it in iOS Settings
- Notifications — turn off in iOS Settings
- Ads — remove them entirely with the subscription
If you would like a copy of your data, or want us to delete it for you, email rewayaapp@gmail.com and we will act within 30 days.
10. Children’s privacy
Kutubji is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The library includes works of literature written for adults. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated inside the app.
12. Governing law
This Privacy Policy and any matter relating to it are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
